Private 1-1 Reformer Pilates is the ultimate premium movement experience at Willow Flow Studio. While group classes offer wonderful energy and community, a private session shifts the entire focus onto one person: you. In this dedicated 60-minute session, you have the undivided attention of a highly certified Pilates specialist and exclusive access to the Reformer and its auxiliary apparatus.
Instead of following a generic class template, your instructor designs a bespoke workout tailored to your skeletal alignment, muscular balance, injury history, and daily energy levels. The Reformer is an incredibly versatile machine, but its true magic is unlocked when its springs, straps, and pulleys are calibrated precisely for your body's specific leverage and mechanical needs.
Whether your goal is to rehabilitate a chronic injury, master advanced athletic choreography, or simply enjoy a private, distraction-free environment, 1-1 sessions provide an accelerated path to your goals. At Willow Flow Studio, we combine scientific movement analysis with mindful coaching to ensure every single repetition you perform is flawless, efficient, and deeply effective.
Investing in private training completely transforms how you move, heal, and progress. By stepping out of the group dynamic, you unlock unique physical and structural advantages.
Accelerated Results through Bespoke Programming
In a group class, an instructor must balance the needs of multiple participants. In a private session, every single exercise, spring setting, and variation is chosen specifically for your body. If your left hip is weaker than your right, or if your upper back needs more extension than your core needs compression, your program reflects that instantly. This hyper-customized approach means you build strength, correct imbalances, and see structural changes much faster than in standard classes.
Immediate Form Corrections and Injury Prevention
Even in small groups, subtle form errors can slip by unnoticed. A slightly tilted pelvis or a misaligned knee can turn an excellent exercise into an injury risk. During a 1-1 session, your instructor watches your movement from every angle. They provide immediate verbal cues, visual demonstrations, and gentle hands-on adjustments. This microscopic attention to detail ensures you never waste a movement or risk straining a joint.
Targeted Rehabilitation and Pain Management
If you are recovering from a slipped disc, shoulder surgery, hip replacement, or managing chronic conditions like scoliosis, a group class can feel intimidating or unsafe. Private sessions offer a completely controlled environment. Your instructor can safely decompress your spine, unload your joints using specific spring tensions, and isolate weak stabilizing muscles without triggering flare-ups or pain loops.
Advanced Progression and Athletic Edge
Private sessions are not just for beginners or injured bodies. If you are an experienced practitioner or an athlete looking to break through a fitness plateau, 1-1 coaching provides the technical adjustments you need. Your instructor can introduce complex, advanced Reformer sequences, challenge your athletic coordination, and fine-tune your core stability to give you a competitive edge in your chosen sport.
Private Reformer Pilates is highly inclusive and completely adaptable. However, it is particularly beneficial for individuals with specific lifestyle profiles, physical needs, or scheduling constraints.
Absolute Beginners Who Feel Intimidated
Stepping into a studio full of moving machinery can feel overwhelming. If you have never seen a Reformer before, a private session provides a safe, welcoming, and pressure-free environment to learn the ropes. You will master the foundational principles—like pelvic placement, breathing patterns, and spring management—giving you the ultimate confidence to transition into group classes later if you choose.
Individuals Navigating Injuries or Medical Conditions
If you have been diagnosed with sciatica, joint arthritis, osteoporosis, or are clearing an injury with a physiotherapist, your body requires specialized care. Our instructors can work directly with your medical or physical therapy guidelines, turning your Pilates session into a seamless extension of your rehabilitation plan.
Pre-Natal and Post-Natal Mothers
Every pregnancy and postpartum journey is unique. A private session allows us to adjust the Reformer to support your changing body week by week. Pre-natal sessions focus on pelvic floor health, hip mobility, and upper back strength to prepare for birth. Post-natal sessions focus on safely closing abdominal separation (diastasis recti) and rebuilding core integrity at a pace that honors your recovery.
Busy Executives and Professionals with Strict Schedules
If your calendar changes daily, committing to a fixed group class schedule can be impossible. Private sessions offer flexible booking times that adapt to your lifestyle. Furthermore, if you arrive at the studio mentally exhausted from a high-stress workday, your instructor can pivot the session from an intense strength workout to a deeply restorative, spinal-decompression flow.
Your first private session at Willow Flow Studio is entirely focused on discovery, assessment, and building a comfortable foundation. Here is exactly what you can expect when you step through our doors.
The Initial Movement Assessment
Your first session begins with a brief conversation about your lifestyle, medical history, and personal fitness goals. Your instructor will then guide you through a series of simple movements on and off the Reformer. They will assess your static posture, spinal flexibility, core activation, and joint mobility. This assessment provides the data your instructor needs to map out your long-term training strategy.
What to Bring and Wear
Fitted Workout Wear: Wear leggings or shorts and a comfortable top that allows you to move freely. Avoid excessively baggy clothing, as your instructor needs to see the alignment of your knees, hips, and spine.
Required Grip Socks: For safety and hygiene, you must wear specialized non-slip grip socks on the Reformer carriage and footbar. These are available for purchase at our reception desk if you do not own a pair.
Remove Jewelry: Please remove long necklaces, dangling bracelets, or clothing with sharp metal zippers, as these can snag the leather straps or scratch the vinyl upholstery of the machine.
Establish Open Communication
The beauty of a private session is the dialogue between you and your coach. Unlike a group class where you listen in silence, we encourage you to give constant feedback. If a spring setting feels too heavy, if an exercise causes an unfamiliar pinch, or if you simply want to know why you are doing a specific movement, speak up! Your feedback helps us refine your program in real-time.
Do I need a doctor’s referral to book a private session?
No, you do not need a formal referral to start. However, if you are currently recovering from a major surgery or an acute injury, we highly recommend getting a green light from your doctor or physiotherapist. We are always happy to collaborate directly with your medical team to ensure your workouts align with their rehabilitation goals.
How many private sessions do I need before I can join a group class?
This depends entirely on your starting point, physical fitness, and goals. For an absolute beginner with no major injuries, we typically recommend 3 to 5 private sessions. This gives you a rock-solid understanding of the equipment, safety protocols, and terminology, ensuring you feel confident, safe, and successful when you move into our small group classes.
How often should I do private 1-1 sessions to see results?
For the absolute best results in posture, strength, and body awareness, we recommend 2 sessions per week. If you are balancing privates with other activities, even once a week of dedicated, focused 1-1 coaching will create lasting structural changes and keep your movement patterns on track.
Can I share a private session with a friend or partner?
Our 1-1 sessions are strictly reserved for one client and one instructor to guarantee absolute focus. However, if you would love to work out with a friend, partner, or family member, we do offer Duet (1-2) sessions. This allows both of you to receive highly personalized coaching while sharing the experience together.
What is your cancellation policy for private sessions?
Because our instructors reserve a specific slot in their schedule and prep your personalized routine in advance, we enforce a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. Any sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full. We appreciate your understanding in respecting our instructors' time.
Your body is completely unique, and your fitness routine should be too. At Willow Flow Studio, our Private 1-1 Reformer Pilates sessions remove the guesswork, the crowds, and the compromises. Step into a quiet, nurturing space where every movement is curated to make you stand taller, move stronger, and live entirely free from physical limitations.
